The Community
December 2006 saw the village spring to life with the first residents moving into their luxury apartments in both Maple and Maes Courts.
The Residents Association has organized a number of clubs and societies for those interested - art, local history, scrabble and bridge to name but a few. Residents have also arranged outings to the theatre, the cinema, the ballet and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and currently interest is being established for the numerous events at the Brighton Festival this coming May.
Plans for a band to visit for midsummer’s day are also underway with a BBQ during the afternoon. We are sure this will be the first of many such events, and reflects the undeniable fact that it is the residents themselves that are bringing the St Georges Park village to life.
Amongst the special meals and events that have already taken place are a St Valentines dinner, Mother’s Day lunch, St Patrick’s Day lunch (with Guinness £1 a pint and Irish coffees galore!), and of course St George’s Day.
Theme nights continue to be planed for the future, alternating every last Friday of the month with a wine tasting followed by dinner. There is a carvery every Wednesday and Sunday and happy hour every Sunday evening.
The games room with snooker and table tennis tables is being used on games nights organised by the residents, and the therapy room is used by visiting therapists from chiropractor and massage therapists to reflexology and chiropodists. The therapists and hairdressing salon is by appointment through the concierge.
The specialist gym equipment which adjusts to the user’s level is proving popular. Many residents have already had their induction and along with the opportunity to take country walks in the grounds some have stepped up their fitness regimes.
We now have just over 145 residents living at St George’s Park and as the community continues to grow and thrive we thought it would be a good time to ask the current residents what they felt about living in the village.
